"At first... I really wasn't thinking anything because I didn't know what to think." She shrugged and looked out in front of her. "Then I started thinking that maybe you had some unavoidable thing you had to do or a family emergency or something like that, so I got worried. And then after that... I thought maybe you left because you just didn't want to be there and that maybe what everyone was saying wasn't really true."
